work

Today was Take Your Sons and Daughters To Work Day. I took advantage to save some babysitting hours. Plus Lily apparently liked the idea of going to "Mom's work". It would have been awesome if I hadn't forgotten the wall plug for her DVD player. Good thing it was a short day!
Here she is enjoying the horses in Brigham City.

catch up

We spent the weekend in St. George. Yesterday I was glad to come home. Jack is still a bit under the weather, which means I get no sleep, and I don't feel too great either. So it wasn't the best vacation - although I think Adam would disagree:Here's Adam after 5 hours of paintballing. I couldn't believe the welts on his legs and arms! Later that day he took Lily to the Kite Festival while Jack and I napped. Lily loves spending time with her aunts and uncles. (Thanks Mindy for the pictures!)
I have to admit - Lily was amazing this trip. Usually it is a nightmare to get her to sleep when we're in St. George, since there's so much going on and she *hates* the pack'n'play. This time I set aside a spot on the ground for "Lily's bed" and when she wanted to go to bed for a nap and bedtime, she would.
And here is spoiled Jack. He got up so much at night I brought him in the king sized bed. He liked taking naps here, and slept good during the day.
This was my last weekend with Amanda before she moves to Colorado. It's so sad to think about. Adam said as long as we're living away from family, we might as well live in New York or something. I kind of agree.

did you hear anything?

Today was demolition day. My cousin Andrew and uncle Kevin came and took out the tile in our basement. It involved a jackhammer and a LOT of noise for about 6 hours. Lily and Jack didn't really mind. They both took naps during the racket - I couldn't believe it!Sunday night was actually the first night we attempted to have them in the same room. After today, I don't know why I was so worried about them waking each other up. It has been okay so far, and now that I know what Lily can sleep through, I'm going to let Jack cry himself back to sleep if he wakes up again.
I love having them together. I think the older Jack gets the more fun they are going to have when they wake up in the morning. I also think Lily likes not being alone. They are good kids.

some really, REALLY, really happy thoughts

~ I slept in my bed from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. last night after being awake with 2 or 3 naps since 1:00 a.m. yesterday morning.
~ When I am holding Jackson he doesn't have an IV set up taped to his head with the tube attached to a machine, or an oxygen tube taped to both sides of his head coming down to his nose, or a tube attached to his foot to monitor his oxygen levels and heart rate. That was tricky walking around!
~ I got "free" breakfast, lunch and dinner - I totally take advantage of that food at Ogden Regional. Salmon, soup, salad, dessert, juice - I really piled it on. So yummy.
~ We got "free" Pampers diapers and wipes.
~ We don't know what our bill will be yet.
~ Jackson is nursing after not eating for 12 hrs straight yesterday.
~ Adam apparently thinks I am emotional supermom. When I went to call a neighbor to come sleep with Lily while we went to the ER, he said "You can go - I'll stay here." (I take that as a compliment).
~ Jackson's spinal fluid is clear - no meningitis! The pediatrician said he likely has a virus going around like RSV that lasts for 4-5 days - we only have like 1 or 2 left!
~ I have a slightly larger capacity for compassion of parents with sick kids. I can't imagine how it would have felt if something had gone really wrong.
~ Lily was good for Tamara yesterday - all 11 hours. (Or so she said...)
~ We have amazing families. I love my siblings.
~ Adam is my comfort haven. I could not have survived yesterday without him.
